Health Services in North Lewisham
As leaders of the local NHS we are continually working to improve and develop your local health services to ensure that they meet your needs.
On Monday 12 January we launched a 12-week consultation looking at two areas aimed at improving local NHS services that we would like your views on. This consultation closed on 6 April 2009.
You can read the outcomes here.
Our new GP-led health centre
In October 2007, the Government made a commitment to open 150 new ‘GP-led health centres’ across England, one for each Primary Care Trust (PCT). These centres must be easily accessible, open seven days a week, from 8am-8pm, and anyone will be able to walk in and see a doctor.
The aim of this national programme is to improve local access to treatment and advice, as well as a range of other health-care services for patients.
We plan to open a new GP-led health centre in the borough in late 2009, but before we do, we want your comments on:
- where we propose to have it - the Waldron Health Centre in New Cross
- any new services (other than standard GP services) we should provide there
- our plan to provide walk-in services through the GP-led health centre (we currently provide these at the New Cross Walk-in Centre)
Developing services at the Waldron Health Centre
We already provide a wide range of community health services from the Waldron Health Centre in New Cross. As part of our plans to deliver more health services in the community (following the ‘Healthcare for London’ consultation held in 2008), we want to know what extra services you would like us to provide.
For more information on these proposals please click here to view a full copy of our consultation document.
